Our programs are based on the communicative approach, where the students develop all four skills of the language (Oral, Listening, Speaking and writing). The student is the center of attention, therefore making the class dynamic, participatory on behalf of the student and fun. ISSO's programs are designed so that students may take maximum academic advantage of both long and short courses. Obviously, a program with four hours daily of academic activity requires a diversity of material in order to avoid monotony and boredom. Language classes, in their three levels, are accordingly divided into different sessions dealing with various elements of language learning. We follow the world renowned "Spanish For Life" books made by Heinle and Heinle Publishing Company.
The Spanish language courses are aimed at giving students the correct use of the language in real situations . The intention is to provide a practical knowledge of the language as a means of communication, without overlooking a solid and systematic foundation.
Our Program:
Our program is based on nine (9) levels, where the student progresses from a basic level to an advanced level in the language. Each level consists of 25 academic hours. Our complete program has a total of 225 hours of classroom time.
Basic Level:
Three levels - 101, 102, 103
Our aim is first to teach our students "Survival Spanish" then at enabling the student to communicate in basic, daily situations, as well as communicating and differentiating information in actual situations. The student's knowledge of written language should be such as to understand simple texts and to elaborate brief texts.
Intermediate level:
Three Levels - 201, 202, 203
Our aim is to develop our student's confidence in the language in communicating in public. Students also learn how to express their opinion in real conversations and to efficiently transmit their feelings and needs. In written language, students read newspaper articles and straightforward literary texts, and prepare letters, compositions, brief reports and short essays.
Advanced level:
Three levels - 301, 302, 303
Our aim is to develop more accuracy and fluency in the language. Students should be able to understand detailed information about general subjects, have conversations and express their opinions. Their knowledge of written language should be such as to read quite difficult literary texts and express themselves in long compositions as almost native speakers.
** All students must purchase the book that comes with the program.
